Born and raised in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Epstein, originally pursued a career in ski racing and big mountain skiing before switching gears and joining the ski media. There he became famous for streaking the X-Games and bringing a much needed sense of humor to a far too serious industry.
But with a degree in studio art and the ability to predict the future, he helped spearhead the entire Time Inc action sports media group’s transition from film to digital. His new workflow system helped the group save hundreds of thousands of dollars and move seamlessly into the otherwise daunting world of digital image processing. Officially, he was the photo editor and internet director of Freeze Magazine, one of the most influential ski magazines ever published.
Since transitioning from action sports to commercial photography, he’s become a digital tech expert, wielding his expert Photoshop brushes for retouching, mastering digital capture, and helping photographers get the shot they want for over five years. He’s partnered with landscape, fashion, and lifestyle photographers as well as joined forces with prominent retailers such as Nordstrom, Microsoft, and Canon."
